The device holds up to 10 custom tunes which can be supplied by SCT custom tuning dealers and also includes pre-loaded strategy files from SCT. The X4 features a larger, brighter, easy to read color screen with auto dim and user adjustable portrait and landscape modes. This unit is a smaller, more compact device than the X3 it replaces. SCT's X4 features great improvements in design and use.
Ford Mustang owners don't have much choice in the matter anyway because most tuners prefer tuning with SCT.SCT's X4 tuning device is the latest evolution of the X series of tuning devices from SCT. Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend. SCT tech support was prompt and helpful during the two occasions I needed their help which can go a long way when dealing with finicky devices like this one. The more compact size of the device makes it feel more portable and the general fit and finish is better than the older models.ĭatalogging with a laptop/Livelink software can be a bit challenging as it seems to be inconsistent on whether it can log starting with the key on/engine off, or log regardless of engine status as long as the key is on. The screen layout can be customized to see more (or less) on the screen while datalogging with the handheld. The handheld is an improvement over the outgoing X3 as the LCD screen makes it easier to read at night. Good quality, but software could use some improvementīought this to datalog and tune a Mustang GT.
